  8. What is CatHack?

  10. CatHack is a HackMaster extension which makes category selections in the built-in Palm OS 
  11. applications 'sticky' - ie. a category selection made in one application is carried over to 
  12. the others. CatHack applies its category settings to Memo Pad, Address and To Do List.

  14. CatHack makes your Palm Organizer usage more modal. For example, when your're working in
  15. the Business category  in Memo Pad and switch to Address - CatHack takes you straight to 
  16. the Business category,saving you from searching out and changing the category manually.

  18. CatHack can also bring category selections from other applications to Memo Pad, Address and To Do List. Select a category in the other application, and if a match can be found in the built-in applications then they are set to match your category selection.

  22. To try CatHack out, you can download a trial version for free.

  24. CatHack needs to be run from inside HackMaster (a HackMaster trial is also included in the 
  25. CatHack distribution).

  27. After installing cathack.prc, start HackMaster and tap the checkbox beside the 
  28. CatHack listing.

  30. Using CatHack

  32. Using CatHack is simple, and largely transparent. As you change categories in the built-in
  33. applications (Memo Pad, ToDo and Address), CatHack goes behind the scenes and points the 
  34. other applications to the same category.

  36. When you visit a new built-in application, you'll find the category already 
  37. set up for you. Of course, CatHack works best when you have categories which match in all
  38. the built-in applications. Use the applications 'edit categories...' option to change the
  39. names of categories so that they match among the built-in applications. Note that category
  40. names are case sensitive, so personal is not the same category as Personal.

  42. CatHack can also take category settings from other applications and apply them to the 
  43. built-in applications. For example, if you go to Applications and choose 'all' CatHack will
  44. set the categories of these to 'All' as well. You might find it helpful to cluster 
  45. applications you use for eg. Business or Personal use into categories with the same names as 
  46. corresponding categories in the Memo Pad, Address and ToDo applications.

  48. Note that CatHack cannot set the categories outside of the built-in applications, as this requires detailed knowledge of and access to the data structures of these applications.

  62. When you buy CatHack PalmPilotGear will send you a key to unlock 
  63. your trial copy of CatHack - there is no need to install a new 
  64. version. To enter the key, you need to launch Hackmaster and tap 
  65. the '+' sign next to CatHack's listing. Enter the key in the text field 
  66. in the preferences dialog. Please keep a copy of the key, but do not distribute the 
  67. key to others. Each copy of CatHack in use requires its own key.
